Unity Is Our Greatest Weapon: Senior Shia Cleric Rallies Tanzania Behind National Cohesion

The senior Shia cleric of Tanzania has called on all citizens and believers to safeguard national peace, preserve public unity, and strengthen social cohesion as a vital foundation for the country's development and progress.

Hawzah News Agency- Sheikh Hamed Jalala Mwakindenge made the remarks during Eid al-Adha prayers held at the Ghadir Mosque in the Kigogo Post area of Dar es Salaam, where a large number of believers gathered for the solemn worship service.

Addressing the congregation, Sheikh Jalala urged the people of Tanzania to maintain their unity and solidarity under all circumstances, stressing that national cohesion serves as the greatest weapon for preserving security, tranquility, and the nation's success.

The cleric elaborated that peace and unity must not be approached through the lens of religious, ethnic, or social differences. Rather, they must be elevated as a shared value that pertains to all human beings without discrimination of any kind.

"Different religions invite us to goodness, love, and mutual respect," Sheikh Jalala stated. "Society must therefore live in cooperation and mutual support in order to build a country founded on understanding and respect for the human dignity of all individuals."

Speaking before hundreds of worshippers who had gathered for the Eid prayers, the senior cleric warned against hate speech, divisive rhetoric, and actions that could disrupt the nation's peace, asserting that safeguarding Tanzania is the responsibility of every citizen, regardless of their differences.

He further underscored the importance of religious leaders continuing to use their platforms to advocate for peace, good morals, and national solidarity, noting that a society filled with love and unity possesses the capacity to confront various social and economic challenges.

The Eid al-Adha ceremony at the Ghadir Mosque was conducted in an atmosphere of calm and solidarity, affording worshippers the opportunity to reflect on religious advice and sermons aimed at strengthening moral values, promoting love among the people, and preserving the blessing of peace in Tanzania.
